HP Director does not load after Internet Explorer 7 upgrade

If you own an HP multifunction printer and have recently upgraded to IE7 you will probably find that HP Director no longer works. To resolve this problem:
- Go to www.hp.com
- Click on “Software & Driver Downloads”
- Enter your printer model
- Select your Operating System (Windows Vista, XP, 2000 etc)
- Scroll down to “Updates” section and find update labelled “Critical update to resolve an issue with HP Director after installing Internet Explorer 7“.
- Download update and follow prompts to install.
Voila! HP Director should now work again.

sure they got the critical update if u select vista as your OS??
i could not find anything for vista, only diagnostic and driver..both useless.
I uploaded the file, however it did not work. The HP Director does not show as an option (no Icon or HP folder in Programs). The printer/copier work fine.
Help?
