LSP & Winsock Fix: I can’t connect to internet after Adware Spyware clean up!
Often after an adware/spyware clean up people find that they can no longer connect to the internet. This is usually because necessary LSP (Layered Service Provider) or Winsock 2 components have been removed. This type of problem is usually associated with the removal of bugs such as NewDotNet and WebHancer.
To fix this problem you will need to download two pieces of software – this is probably going to be hard from the computer with the issue
so you may have to copy them to CD or flash drive etc from another PC:
Once you have these two files on the troubled computer you are ready to start. Before you do start however, I have a short disclaimer. This fix will repair your internet connection with no side effects only 98% (i made up that figure
) of the time. The other 2% of the time it will actually break some applications (VET/Etrust antivirus is one example that needs to be reinstalled after performing this fix).
Ok, so heres how you do it:
1. Open LSPFix
2. Put a tick in the box that says I know what I’m doing (or enjoy re-installing my operating system…)
3. Move ALL entries across to Remove column
4. Click on Finish and close LSPFix

5. Open Winsock XP Fix
6. Click on Fix and follow prompt to restart computer.

After your computer reboots check the internet. It should now work! Have fun.

Oh My God! Another super success story. Had a techie run some spyware. Unable to connect to the net. Used another winsock fix that did not work. Followed the instructions here and voila. You guys are geniuses!
This did not work for me. I reluctantly clicked the Advanced box (b/c the LSP Fix directions firmly say not to), and moved all to the Remove box. Upon restart, I still had the same internet problems. Then, my screen went black and upon reboot, said it had recovered from a serious error.
Thank you much. Worked perfectly.
